How it began
CEMEP represents the European manufacturers of electrical machines and power electronics equipment and systems. It was founded on 1 of January 1991 succeeding the two section committees COMEL and COCOS, which were disbanded on 31 of December 1990.
The name CEMEP comes from: Comité Européen de Constructeurs de Machines Electriques et d'Electronique de Puissance.
Mission
- Elaboration and submission of comments on European commercial and industrial policy as far as this directly affects the interests of the manufacturers of electrical machines and of power electronics equipment and systems.
- Elaboration and submission of comments of laws, regulations and provisions where these affect the product areas represented by CEMEP.
- Consideration of specific subjects e.g. statistical matters, standards and safety requirements.
- Providing a better overview of the European and world market for electrical machines and power electronics equipment and systems.
